MATCH REPORT: Eagles vs Pulse – Hart Premier League Debut
Date: 11 May 2025 | Venue: Nissan Arena
Final Score: Pulse 50 def. Eagles 44

History was made at Nissan Arena on Saturday as both the Eagles and Pulse stepped onto the court for their inaugural match in the Hart Premier League. Despite a strong and spirited effort, the Eagles fell to a composed Pulse side, 44–50, in a fast-paced and physical contest.
It was a landmark day for both teams, marking their official debut in Queensland's elite netball competition. The Eagles featured an impressive seven Ruby debutants, all of whom showed promising glimpses of what’s to come this season. Among them, Tyler Marot stood tall, playing the full 60 minutes at centre and earning player of the match honours for her relentless drive, leadership, and vision into the circle.
The match remained neck-and-neck through the opening three quarters, with neither side able to pull away by more than a few goals. Pulse capitalised on a surge of momentum in the final term, tightening their defensive structures and forcing key turnovers that helped them stretch their lead to six by the final whistle.
Following the game, Eagles Head Coach Amy Sommerville praised her squad’s resilience and composure in their first outing.
“What a game! It was high quality from both sides , with both of us having multiple debutants,” Sommerville said. “The game was intense and I am so proud of the athletes who represented the Redlands Coast Eagles for the first time. They have been working so hard since November last year. So for them to finally get out and put it out into a competition, it was rewarding. Whilst, we didn't get the win, the room for growth is really exciting for us and I cannot wait to see them grow each week and gain confidence in their ability.”
Player of the Match and Club Captain, Tyler Marot echoed the coach’s sentiments, highlighting the competitive nature of the contest. “The game was a fierce battle, with both teams fighting point for point,” said Marot. “It was physical, tightly contested and it's only game 1.”
While the Eagles didn’t come away with the win, they leave the court with plenty to be proud of in their first competitive outing. Their debut performance promises an exciting season ahead for fans and players alike.
